Fresh New Look for the Staff Webpages
For over two years the staff webpages have been languishing in obscurity. No more. On August 1, the Internal Communications team launched the new look staff webpages which have been completely redesigned, given a new lease of life and a fresh purpose.
As part of the facelift, the pages have been redesigned to help staff in both their day to day work life and home life. They contain links to information resources related to offers available to staff, including childcare, pensions and discount theatre tickets as well as more job focussed information.
You can find the new staff webpages here: www.shef.ac.uk/staff
The project was developed in direct response to recommendations made by the Internal Communicators’ Network (ICN). During the Network’s first meeting in April, members spoke of the need to overhaul the staff webpages and make them more relevant to today’s University. The Internal Communications team responded to this feedback and the new look pages are the result of that.
The pages have been developed to make the most widely used links, from the old pages, more readily available. This was done by analysing statistical data to find the most popular links and then using this information to help formulate a page design with the help of the web marketing team.
The new pages also incorporate a regularly changing news story which will colleagues around the University will find interesting.
But the project doesn’t end with the launch of the pages. There will be more developments to come. The Internal Communications team will continue to gather data for analysis, to help maintain the pages and review the content. In addition you, the users, are being asked to feed into the project and let the team know what you think of the pages and, more importantly, what has been missed or can be improved.
To feedback to the team you can email: internalcommunications@sheffield.ac.uk or join the ongoing discussion regarding the pages on the Internal Communicators’ Network uSpace .
And keep an eye on the pages for more changes in the near future.
